Some of these tips are designed to keep you from making bad decisions that will cost ticket brokers money. This is a part of a series of articles that expand and explain some of these tips.
Do not invest in Club seats. Sports teams have been introducing club seating over the last ten to fifteen years. These are in a special section, usually on the second tier of a stadium. They have wider seats, shorter lines, more restrooms, access to better food and often a wait staff. These seats sell at a premium from the originating team or venue. While the club seats offer these pleasing amenities, we want to avoid them as ticket brokers. Do not buy club seats.
Club seats have a face value that is 50% to 80% higher than the playing level seats below them. On of the primary motivations for the building of the new stadiums over the last ten to fifteen years was to install these club seats. There are always seats closer to the action that cost no more and often less than club seats. Imagine you are the buyer. You might have that desire to go to the game and be close to the action. Club seats are not going to fill that need. The primary buyer of the club seat is the corporate expense account, not the rabid sports fan willing to pay premium dollars.
Club seats cost more, have a lower return on investment and take longer to sell. Avoid them.
