Among the top brand in field hockey sticks are Grays, TK, Gryphon, Vampire, Mazon, Voodoo and etc. However sticks review is very limited and often hockey player make a wrong decision. Today I would like to share some tips that might help hockey player to buy their stick

1# Buying Field Hockey Stick Tips

Different people prefer different weight. Get a "feel" for the stick or try the stick first. From my experience Mazon and Mercian sticks are quite heavy on the head. Generally forwards player prefers lighter stick for a perfect ball dribbling and defends always use a heavy stick for a powerful shot. Approximate weight use by types of player

Defense: 22 to 24 ounces

Midfielders: 21 ounces

Forwards: 19 to 20 ounces.

Each stick also has different thickness. Mazon and Mercian are thick on the head as they are heavy on the head. Grays sticks are quite thin meanwhile TK's are thick.

Below are the type of HEAD and their advantages

SHORTI

Provide a superb ball control for the player. Player will be able to turn the ball easily you are able dribble fast. Offense always prefer this stick as it important to them to get in the D spot.

MIDI

The most common stick used and always a suitable choice for a beginner. Large surface on the hook for a better hitting

MAXI

Not much different from Midi stick. It has large hitting surface. Also helps the defender to stop the ball effectively and give more ball control. Ball stopping would not be a problem on turf field.

'J' HOOK

Again it has a larger hitting surface. The sticks are more thick and it comfortable to stop the ball. Defenders are most likely to use this stick.

I hope this little information would help you to choose a suitable stick for you.
